General reference
The Department was established on the 1st of September 1979.
Scientific directions of the Department:
- optimization of the system of technical maintenance and repair based on the using of diagnostic devices for the assessment of the actual technical condition of the entrance parameters of the ship equipment;
- research of the influence of engine oil condition on the tribiological characteristics of the kinematic elements of fractional contact;
- development of optimal rates of the technologies of restoration of functionality and improving of endurance of the constituent elements of shipboard machines and mechanisms.
During the history of the Department its employees completed more than 35 research contractual and state budget works in the mentioned scientific direction . The actuality of the executed works was confirmed by author’s certificate of inventions and technological developments, approved by the Russian Maritime register of shipping.
More than hundred scientific articles and teaching materials were published, including more than 12 textbooks.
Four employees of the Department are trained in post graduate course and works over master's theses. The laboratory of friction and wear was created at this Department.
