In Varna (Bulgaria), on the basis of the naval Academy Nikola Vaptsarov hosted the 18th annual General Assembly international Association of Maritime universities and the conference, dedicated to it. The conference "Global perspectives in Maritime education" joined scientists, teachers and other specialists working in the marine industry from around the world to discuss topical issues of Maritime education and perspectives of its further development.

Admiral Ushakov Maritime State University was represented by doctor of pedagogical Sciences, associate Professor of foreign languages Department, Director of the Center for international education of University Makashina Irina Ilkhamovna . She made a presentation on three reports prepared by five authors:

1. Ph. D., Professor Makashina Irina Ilkhamovna;

2. Ph. D., Professor Faivisovich Aleksandr Viktorovich;

3. Ph. D., associate Professor Marichev Igor Vasilievich;

4. Ph. D. in Economics, associate Professor Filatova Evgeniya Valentinovna;

5. associate Professor Truschenko Irina Nikolaevna.

All presented reports were devoted to the organization of distance education and the assessment of its quality.

University is a member of International Association of Maritime universities, which includes over 50 universities from all continents. In 2010, the University was among the founders of the new Association of universities Association of marine institutes of the Black sea.

Annually students train and practice in foreign Universities and other organizations. Employees of the University regularly visit Maritime universities all over the world, exchange experience and study the system of preparation of students in Europe.
