Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Admiral Ushakov Maritime State University" is the largest educational institution of water transport and the only higher educational institution in the South of Russia that trains maritime specialists for shipping companies, shipbuilding and ship repair plants, water transport enterprises, ports and transport terminals.

In accordance with the license of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the University conducts training under the programs of secondary general, secondary vocational, higher and additional education. State diplomas and certificates of the University comply with the requirements of international conventions and are recognized by all countries of the world. For maritime specialties, the University is accredited by the Council of Europe and the International Maritime Organization.
The university trains personnel in 30 specialties and areas of higher education, 6 specialties of secondary vocational education. 3 institutes, 5 faculties, 27 departments, branches in Rostov-on-Don, Sevastopol. To organize the educational process, the University has an educational and laboratory complex with a block of classrooms and three educational buildings, more than 500 laboratories
and classrooms, an electronic reading room, a library with a book fund of about 400 thousand copies.

The university has a modern set of simulators and simulators that imitate ship equipment. Including the ship control and maneuvering simulator, simulators of communication systems and electronic cartography, modern educational distance technologies are used. On the basis of the Institute for Advanced Studies, advanced training courses for ship personnel (more than 150 types of training) are organized and constantly operate. Training of scientific and pedagogical personnel is underway, a dissertation council for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations is working.
More than 300 teachers work at the University, among them there are 43 professors and doctors, 198 associate professors and candidates of science.
Today, the University is a modern scientific and educational complex that trains personnel for the transport sector of the country's economy in a full cycle of training: school-college-university-postgraduate study-doctoral studies.
More than 7 thousand people study at the University. During its existence, more than 35,000 specialists have been trained.
